Target Commodity: Rare Earth Elements (REE)
Mt Ramsay Project is Orion Metals newest project. Tenement EPM 25677 was granted on 11 August, 2014, for a term of 5 years.
This single large EPM comprises of 26 sub blocks (approx. 78 sq km), within the Rockhampton Mining District. Mt Ramsay is located 140km SW of the city of Rockhampton and approximately 190 km west of the coal mining port of Gladstone (Figure 1).
Tenement EPM 25677 is centred on a large nepheline syenite complex intruded within sediments of the SE Bowen Basin in Queensland (Figure 2). Alkaline rocks of this nature, in association with carbonatites and other like rocks, are highly prospective for rare earth elements (REE) and in particular, heavy rare earth elements.
The Mt Ramsay alkaline complex is an excellent exploration opportunity and has the potential for REE, specialty metals, copper, and gold mineralisation. Notably, there has been no historic exploration for REE or other specialty metals in this region.
Additionally, the close proximity of this exploration licence to significant transport infrastructure, including major state roads and rail that connects to the mining port of Gladstone, underpins the successful grant of this lease and the exploration opportunities afforded of this area.
Orion Metals focus on developing quality REE projects is reinforced with the identification, pegging and planned exploration of the Mt Ramsay Project.
